Collaboration {Amazing Vendors}

Love these ladies!!!  So I did a collaboration for head shots, with Under The Veil, and Makeup Infusion.  I was so excited all day waiting to get my makeup and hair done, the weather had been sketchy with dark clouds coming in and out, but it managed to stay dry.  So when Chrissy of Makeup Infusion and Melissa of Under The Veil showed up, of course it started POURING!!!  AHHH!  So we decided to go ahead hoping the rain would slow down, but it didn’t, so we ended up getting soaked…. anyways still think we got a few keepers.  Check em out (and if you need any hair or makeup services give these two girls a call!)

Gorgeous Chrissy!

Beautiful Melissa.

Happy Birthday To My Sweet B {My Story}

I just love this baby, my Brynny B turns one today!!!!  It’s so bitter sweet as she may be our last child….. might be….  😉  I’m so excited to celebrate her birthday with all of our friends and family.  After looking back on the year there have been so many memories, finding her voice…( more like screaming), learning to crawl, how she did NOT like eating rice cereal and moved stright to finger foods, and so much more.

To my sweet B, you have brought us so much joy in this first year with you.  I can’t wait to watch you grow and change into a toddler and a little girl.  Your sisters love you and you are one tough baby being carried around by Hadley… even though mommy says she’s not allowed.  Thank you for being my baby, I wish you’d never grow up.

All the mommas out there, if you have children… hug, squeeze and kiss them because they only stay tiny for so long.

What To Wear To A Wedding {Tuesday’s Tips}

Do you ever feel when you’re going to be attending a wedding that you never know what to wear!??  I used to feel that way all the time, but now having shot so many weddings I have seen some fun dresses and colour combos!  Here’s some pieces I would wear for this summer’s wedding season as a guest.

This is gorgeous!!  I’m in love with the lace.

This is so cute, I would wear all of this…. well now!

Love this dress, not sure that I would wear the hat to a wedding but this dress is beautiful! I’m loving florals that are in right now, ahhhh!  Makes me want to go shopping!!!

All Bets Are In {Langley Wedding Photography}

Chris and Rhonda got married in the Coast Hotel, in Langley, with a poker theme. They love to play cards, so it was the perfect venue. Everything was “decked” out, LOL! I’m such a nerd, but really it was amazing!!!  We were expecting rain but we scored with sun!!  Rhonda came across this beautiful park, Sendall Gardens….. wow so many spots to shoot.  There was an old house, incredible flowers, trees, and a glass encased green house. We also came across another park on the way back to the reception that caught our eye with its’ tall grassy field and wooden bridge.  These two really compliment each other and I’m so happy that I was able to share this day with them!

Rhonda, you are gorgeous!!!

Blossoms and Love {Vancouver Wedding Photographer}

Oooooo!!!!!  I just love spring!!!!  Ben and Christine met me in Vancouver at UBC, such a gorgeous place to do engagement photos.  As soon as I seen Christine I was loving her look, the dress, belt and those cute shoes!  Yup, later that week I went and copied her…. 😉 I bought that dress and belt…. We walked around the grounds and found some amazing spots, the rose garden, a field of dandelions, and we found a really cool rock wall.  I’m not too familiar with UBC, but this place was so neat.  I had Christine and Ben sit up in the window, they were chatting to each other and I was backing up to get “the shot” and then it happened I fell backwards, legs up, and into a planter!!!  I was so embarrassed!!!  After gathering myself up we headed over to another one of the gardens, Christine wanted a head shot of each of them for their guest book…. thinking of me falling into the planter really gave inspiration for their smiles!!  So funny!  I am so excited for their wedding, only a month and a half to go!!!!!!!!

Loving your style you two!

Here’s “the shot”…. yup into the planter I went!

An Experience To Remember {My Story}

This last weekend was such an amazing experience.  I was chosen by Jasmine Star to attend her course on how to shoot an editorial wedding at CreativeLIVE.  My hubby and I put together a submission video, where we rapped, and we actually got picked!!!!!  I was shocked and amazed!!!  I had all sorts of emotions running through me, excitment, nerves, and a hunger to learn.  My hubs and I drove down to Seattle, just the two of us. Our moms graciously took our girls for the weekend so we were able to have some time without kids for a couple days.  I have been watching CreativeLIVE for a while now so winning was exhilarating for me, it was exciting getting to meet all the crew and just being part of the action.  The first day I was so nervous I could have thrown up, getting to know the other photographers, the crew, cameras, and just a whole new experience.  We got together with Jasmine for breakfast and meeting her was great, her and JD were so nice and genuine.  After some eats we headed to cL and got it started, I learned so much that first day… I can’t even re cap everything because my brain will explode and if you really want to know you can buy the full three days for $149….  steal of a deal by the way…. 😉 I just can’t even explain how incredible each and every day was, and the food they served at lunch was sooooo yummy!  The crew eats well, Thai, and Greek food… YUM!  Two of my fav  dishes.  Hosts Kenna and LaRae are two of the sweetest people, and I love the way they run the show… my favorite Kenna line…. “Hello internet!” Awesome!  I know this is choppy, but I just can’t stop thinking of all these great moments.  Overall an amazing experience.  Now I have a few words to say to J*, J* Primes and cL……

CreativeLIVE, THANK YOU!!!  I am so honoured and blessed to have met each and every one of you!  I have made new friends and you all are so friendly and kind.  I have never been in any sort of production like this and you all rocked it and made us all feel so comfortable.

J* Primes….. I love you guys!  You are all so wonderful.  I had fun shooting, dancing, laughing, and yes shedding some tears too.  I know we will all keep in touch and will keep each other accountable.  I can’t wait to watch our businesses grow!!

This group is amazing so go and check them and “Like” their Facebook pages!!!  Actually LOVE them!!!!!!  Ashley Barnett, Mark Nabong, Brittany Morgan, Michelle Lange, and last but not least John Cain Sargent.

Jasmine, thank you.  Thank you for choosing me.  This was such a cool experience, and I am so blessed to have shared this with you!  Every day you exceeded my expectations and made me want to become a better photographer.  You are such a lovely person and you give all that you have to teach others.  Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Well, it’s time to rock it out!!!  I have some exciting news…. a new Ashley Martens Photography is coming!!!  A complete overhaul… branding, website, packaging, blog make over, and more!!!!  Keep checking back, I can’t wait to show you where my business is going!

Parallel Yoga {Incredible Businesses}

I was contacted by Kara of Parallel Yoga to do head shots of her instructors and some  action photos in the studio.  Her gorgeous studio is located in the new Parallel Market strip mall in Abbotsford, it’s amazing.  Meeting all the girls was awesome, they were super fun and up for anything!  It was raining so most of the shots were done in the studio, but we did make it outside for some really beautiful yoga poses in the rain. Overall I was very impressed by the studio and had a lot of fun with the instructors. If you are thinking about taking a yoga class, please go see these fabulous ladies!

Greyson {Abbotsford Newborn Photographer}

This is one of my most beloved families!  I have watched sweet Kinsley grow from a newborn to a big girl, we did a first year package for her. Now she is a big sister to baby Greyson, and you can tell how she loves him.  Giving him kisses, talking to him and maybe a hug too.  She couldn’t hold him on her own, but mommy was sitting right next to her helping.  I had a new hat from KeKe Kraze so I was excited to try it out!  Little Greyson wore the dino hat so well!!  I’m so excited to watch as this little family grows, and changes.  Life is an amazing thing and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of theirs.

I had to add one of Paula’s maternity photos, isn’t she beautiful!?

Such a sweet little guy!!

Sweet Baby Asha {Coquitlam Newborn Photographer}

I love this little family!  I took their first baby’s photos right from birth to one year, it was so amazing seeing sweet Nake get so big!  I was so excited when Davinder called my with the arrival of their second baby Asha, I couldn’t wait to meet her.  She was so sleepy, which made it much easier to get amazing shots.  You could tell how proud mommy and daddy were of their beautiful new daughter. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable time together, I can’t wait to see them all again in 6 months for her next photoshoot!
